I stitched this almost 1 year ago and today I was able to do the finishing on it thanks to Carol :) (that sweet Shay also sent a tin last month but it was a bit too small-I WILL be using it as well Shay for another finish) The tin from Carol arrived in today's mail and I was SO excited to get started on the finishing that I RAN down to my stitching room and that's where I stayed for the next 2 hours :)! And here are the fruits of my finishing efforts :) I LOVED doing the finishing on this one and I LOVE how it turned out. I wasn't fond of all the extra fabric showing around the design

so I finished mine closer to the shape of the heart template :) Thank you again Carol and THANK you for the YUMMY homemade cookies you included!! They are delicious!!! :) :) :)

Sweet Berit-I will send you some DMC 115 :)

Stephanie (Joie de Bayou)-Yes there is batting under the stitched piece-and it is laced onto a piece of acid free board cut into a heart shape. The board is then glued to the top of the outside of the tin. And the inside is some lovely patriotic and star print fabric I had in my fabric stash!

Thank you friends and readers for visiting with me and for your continued interest in my blog postings :) I appreciate all the comments and your personal email so very much :) Please come again :)

I made a few more changes to my stitching room....hubby thought it was hard to get me out of there before...now I want to spend all my time in there LOL!
I moved all my DMC drawers to the floor and hubby secured them to the wall so they don't topple over :) I can reach them all now without the need of a ladder as before :)

And here is what I did with the space the DMC drawers were prior :)

I am having so much fun in my stitching room. I found it so easy to do all the finishing on my weekend projects-I knew where everything was and it was just a joy to be in the room :)

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit :) I appreciate it very much :)
Please do come again :)

A little bit of spring PDF Print E-mail

Hi Stitchers!

Chouettalors freebie that you can find there (2nd page)

After a lovely week spent by the sea, with wonderful weather and lovely visits, we're back home and I'm eager to share some beautiful pics taken in Bretagne.

A crêperie sign. As far as I'm concerned, Bretagne is the place where pancakes are best.

In Quimper, the first Macaron maker. It's a beautiful, colourful town, with lots of architectural treasures.

By the sea.

The place reminded me of Côte d'Azur, still it's Bretagne. There was a house at the end of the path, and I so envy the people who have this beautiful sight all year long...

We had a wonderful time, spent to relax and visit, and hug and talk. Some things we have to make time for if we don't want to lose each other, don't you think?

While in Bretagne, in a condo with a lovely view on the beach, we spent every night watching a movie. Generally speaking, we're not into romance or comedy, but in action movies. But I want to advise the excellent "Atonement", based on Ian MacEwan's novel.

Here's a link to the Trailer though as often, I regret that this does not reflect very well the movie. We were very moved and this is one of those films that you never forget. They are few. The actresses (in particular Briony young and old) are wonderful.

Oh and -better late than never- I wanted to show this Saint Patrick's freebie so kindly offered by Paulette Stewart, the Plum Street Samplers Designer, on her blog.

Have a look at her Xmas hares. A must stitch...

I've been stitching too, but no pics or scans yet.

Each and every comment I have received on my last post has made my day. All the more as I don't write very often on this blog, nor take enough time to read your blogs, and I'm sometimes afraid you might think I don't care. So thanks a bunch for still coming here and taking the time to leave a comment.

Hugs to you all, Stitchers,

Lili Bear

Just look at this adorable biscornu :) It is SO tiny-in fact it's the smallest one I have ever stitched (with the exception of the one that goes with the Whitman tin sewing set). TOO cute! I love it!!

Stitch-in weekend!! PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 April 2010 17:57
BeckyBee's Stitching Hive 2010-04-11:

Link: Stitch-in weekend!!
I had a very quiet and relaxing weekend at home with my stitching :) Oh how I enjoyed it :) It's nice sometimes just to get to do something you enjoy without interruptions (well, other than all the obvious interruptions) I stitched and finished 4 pieces including the Memo Board :)
First up we have this adorable pin pillow using BC's Redwing Blackbird design. I have stitched this design 3 times now :) It's SUPER cute and fast :)

Designer: Bent Creek
Design Size: 2.42 x 3.14
Fabric: 28ct. Taupe Mocha-Hand-Dyed by BeckySC
Fibers: DMC
Date Started: 4-10-2010
Date Finished: 4-10-2010

And the next piece is a pin pillow using Primitive Betty's freebie, Tulip Time. I LOVE how this one turned out. I stitched my tulip a little different with DMC 115. I coffee stained it after stitching and I absolutely love it :) I went back and added the large safety pin. I still need to "rust" it(safety pin) up a bit :)

Design:Tulip Time
Designer: Primitive Betty
Fibers: DMC
Fabric: unknown scrap-coffee stained after stitching
Date Started:4-11-2010
Date Finished: 4-11-2010

And the last one is a freebie from Aliolka. I started this one last night after finishing up the memo board and finished it up early this morning :) I finished this one as a needle minder. I love how this one came out as well. It is magnetic on both sides so it can keep your needle on the stitched side and it can adhere to a magnetic stitching board if you like. TOO CUTE!!!

Designer: Aliolka
Fibers: DMC
Fabric: 32ct. Lambswool
Date Started: 4-10-2010
Date Finished: 4-11-2010

Rachel-The needle minder is not made from a jar lid-it's a magnetic sheet that I cut out :) My dad got the magnetic sheet for me from his company-which has since gone out of business.

Paula-REALLY simple...I used a magnetic sheet that my dad got for me from his company (it has since gone out of business) and a circle cutter I purchased MANY years ago and I just cut the magnetic piece to the size I needed and then I finished it as you would a pinkeep finish-I added a VERY thin layer of batting to the magnetic piece I cut out and centered my cross stitch on it. Then I did a gathering stitch around my stitched piece and gathered it around the magnet and laced the back when I was finished-I did the same with another piece of magnetic sheet and added a piece of cotton print fabric to the back the same way I did the front :) I glued the two pieces together and added a trim :)
Easy Peasy :)

Thank you so much for visiting with me :) Thank you for your ever so kind comments and emails :) I appreciate them so very much :) Please do come again :)
hugs and love from SC,
BeckySC :)

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts that I would find one...I did!! Sweet Carol is going to send me one! I am SO excited and SO appreciative :) Thank you so VERY much, Carol!!

I don't usually do this, but I am asking for help...I need a 16 Oz. Mrs Fields heart shaped tin to finish Liberty Tin Sewing Box...SWEET Shay sent me one last month, but alas it was a 14 oz and I need a 16 oz. I have the design all mounted and ready to add to the tin. If someone can send me the correct tin I would pay you back in cash, stash,a trade, a GC to an ONS or I would stitch you something in return. If you can help me-please let me know. My email is in the sidebar :) I have had this stitched for a year now and would REALLY love to do the finishing :)

You can see the kind of tin I need in this pic-this one is just the wrong size :(
