Last night I started Chessie & Me's Botanical Sewing pocket and fob. LOVING it so far and looking forward to stitching on it this evening. YES, I meant to start this close to the edge-I didn't see any reason for wasting fabric and was able to cut the fabric in half and now have enough left from my cut of fabric to stitch another design that uses this linen :) The extra linen on the bottom is for the needle page and the fob.

Thanks so much for visiting :) I do hope you will come again :)

This piece is near and dear to my heart as I had a very dear friend pass away from breast cancer and as I stitched this I thought of her. Today would have been her birthday. I miss her!!
I made some changes and did not finish the pillow off as the model and I will not be using the ditty bag with it (but will use it with another project) This project was gifted to my by Nicki :) I enjoyed it VERY much !!

Awww...Spring!! It makes me want to stay in my yard 24/7.

Please forgive me if I am absent from commenting-we have some stressful issues with health and employment ongoing in our family and I tend to not be as "chatty" when I am stressed/worried. It has NOTHING to do with any of you (I loves you all very much)....I just tend to keep to myself more until it passes :) I hope you all understand if I don't comment on each and every blog :)

Thank you so much
for stopping by for a visit. I do hope you will come again.

I have finished house 9 with the exception of filling in the sky with black. I am leaving that and house 6 which the entire background has to be filled in with black until I have completed all the houses as it will be mindless stitching that I can take along with me anywhere to stitch on :)

In January of 2008 I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer at my very first mammogram when I was just 40 years old.   Needless to say, I was more than shocked to have such a serious disease at such a young age.  Especially since I had NO, and I mean NO risk factors.  No [...]

*Edit*-No, I haven't lost my mind-I realize the dates were wrong..ROFL! YES, I stitched this yesterday and today and not WAY into the future as I had listed...!!! LOL!! It isn't even the 10th month yet-I copy and paste from a main page when I update my website with my new pics-so I don't have to retype all the background info and HTML -I use the same page every time and just change the details as needed and I wasn't paying attention when I copied and pasted the info here to my blog and I goofed on the dates-as you can see I have corrected them :) Well..maybe I have lost my mind ROFL! :)**

Thank you so very much
for your continued visits to my blog and your ever so sweet comments :) I can't tell you all how much I appreciate each of you :) Please do come again :)
Have a MOST lovely new week :)

Happiness is cross stitching 2010-04-17:

Hi everyone, it has been quite a while since my last post as I  have been quite busy over the last few weeks!

Here is my work in progress on Country Cottage Needleworks. I have actually worked on this since I took this picture and it is now nearly finished!
More pictures below

I have just had a nice long break from working and I thought it was about time I started looking for another assignment, I applied for the job on Tuesday last week and I started the new job the following Monday, it is a temporary assignment (which I love) and it suits me fine as I like moving around. The only downside to working is not having enough time for stitching, but never mind I will soon get into a routine of taking my stitching to work and do some in my lunch break!

I have not had time to comment and visit blogs lately and for that I apologise.

I have a couple of private exchanges arranged over the next few months which should be fun, I have just received one from my friend Yana in Russia, although I am going to wait until my next post to show the pictures, just wait until you see them, as the gifts Yana sent are  gorgeous!  I sent Yana's exchange three weeks ago and she has not received it yet, but Yana has assured me that sometimes parcels can take 4 weeks from England, fingers crossed that it arrives safely.

I was supposed to do another exchange with a lady in March, I sent an email but she did not reply, I hope she got my mail as I would hate for her to think I had forgotten.
Hazel I wil be emailing you soon to arrange ours in May/June, I have not forgot!

I had a lovely 50th birthday, I received a beautiful gift from Jill at Purple Peacock blog here, Jill is so generous, I was totally amazed at the beautiful goodies Jill sent me, thankyou so much Jill!
Enclosed were some gorgeous silk threads, pins and needles and some tatting thread.

Here are the threads close up, they are lovely colours!

Here is a picture of the beautiful card my friend Diane sent to me, isn't it lovely!
And this is the lovely bouquet of flowers my son sent to me.

My husband bought me a beautiful watch.

Here is a lovely biscornu made by Connie using one of my patterns, it actually is a pattern for a little pillow but Connie had a good idea to make it into a biscornu - it has turned out beautiful don't you think?

This is the back of the biscornu, this part was designed by Connie.
You can find Connies blog here
Until next time, have a lovely stitchy week!

5 blog awards and stitching news PDF Print E-mail

Happiness is cross stitching 2010-04-17:

Link: 5 blog awards and stitching news
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well, it has been a while since my last post as I have been quite busy lately.
I was very pleased to receive five blog awards,  thankyou so much ladies I really appreciate them.

I received this one from Theresa at Giraffexing and Dawn at Goldenangelworks

and this one from

Carol at  Carols blog ,Adriana at Randa home made lace and Patti at Tapestry of Dreams

These are the rules:

  1. Accept the award.
  2. Thank the person who gave you the award.
  3. Add a link to the person who gave you the award.
  4. Paste the award on your blog.
  5. Write ten things about yourself that others might not know.
  6. Pass the award on to ten other people.
Ten things you may not know about me.
  1. I am 50 this Friday! Aghhhhh!
  2. It is our 26th wedding anniversay this Wednesday. (31st March)
  3. I used to eat chocolate and bread quite regularly, when I was younger it never made any difference to my weight, now it does so I don't eat them very often, however, I have the occasional treat on a Sunday evening.
  4. I prefer winter and spring because summer triggers my hayfever and I hate it!
  5. I am impatient, I want everything done yesterday!
  6. I have a law degree and a Masters degree in employment law, I never tire of reading my law books and keeping upto date on the subject.
  7. I graduated with my law degree when I was 40 - its never too late!
  8. I love reading about Queen Victoria.
  9. I love watching period dramas.
  10. I am really scared of wasps and bees.
I am now going to pass these awards on to everyone because I think everyone deserves them, and the other reason for not choosing ten blogs is basically I have not time to do it as I am going away tomorrow for a couple of days!

Stitching News

Jane sent me this lovely mail art gift to me, it was a total surprise!

It was full of these lovely threads and a threadwinder, thankyou Jane I shall treasure this!
I have started stitching this Country Cottage Needlework design that my son bought
me for Mothers Day.
Here are some close up pictures.

I have just one more photo to show of a biscornu that my friend Connie has made, but I will show that in my next post.

I am going away for a couple of days to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday, I am quite looking forward to the celebrations, we are going to one of  my favourite parts of the country - Bath.
We are having lunch at the Pump Rooms in Bath where Jane Austen used to visit quite regularly, I will update you on my return, and hopefully I will have some nice photographs to show you all.

Happy stitching everyone!
